Members of Newham Save Our NHS attend a number of health and public engagement meetings including meetings of the Barts Trust Board. The most recent meeting took place on Wednesday 1st February 2017 and group members are posing a number of questions to the Board including the following:
Question 1
What are the figures for the increased rate of admissions from A&E at Newham Hospital onto the wards?
Question 2
Sustainability and Transformation plans (STPs)
Can the board outline the process for informing and engaging all staff grades concerning the content of the STPs, the implications of STPs and the changes that would be necessary?
Question 3
Red Flags for staffing at Newham Hospital.
The Trust reports for the last three months show red flags being reduced from 17 in December's report, to three last month to zero this month. Is this related to pre-Christmas reductions in bed occupancy to make more room for incoming patients, combined with the opening of extra beds in Newham, or are there other factors?
Question 4
Staff recruitment. In the nine months of this financial year the Trust has made some deliberate delays to recruitment offers. There have been about 750 fewer offers made than were planned. What is the effect on Newham and Whipps Cross Hospitals in the 9 month period? Has the problem with the turnover in the governance team at Newham been increased by delays in recruitment?
